June 27th, 2004 changed the lives of many people.
Family,friends
and drag racing fans alike.
That was the day we lost Darrell in a drag
racing accident in Saint Louis, Missouri.
I was lucky enough
to have met Darrell at
the CarQuest Nationals at Pacific
Raceways
in 2003. It was a brief meeting, waiting in the pits to have
him sign an autograph for me
but he was very gracious and you
got a sense
that he loved to be there for the fans.
"I've lost my best friend," she said. "And I see I'm not the only one. Darrell touched so many people, which I already knew. It's been so nice to see how loved he was out there. Thank you all."
